Aesop’s Fables have become interwoven into the tapestry of our society providing us with common sayings such as “Don’t count your chickens before they are hatched,” “Once bitten, twice shy,” and “Out of the frying pan into the fire.” They have also provided us with such beloved tales as “The Boy Who Cried Wolf,” “The Goose That Laid the Golden Eggs,” and the “The Tortoise and the Hare.” Even the famed cartoon character Bugs Bunny was inspired by the fables of Aesop. But who would know that Aesop’s Fables were also well-known in the time of Jesus and that Jesus actually referenced the fables of Aesop on several occasions? In The Kingdom of the Lion, Dr. Cash explains the several occasions where Jesus made use of Aesop’s Fables in order to enhance His teachings. It also poses the possibility that Aesop himself may have been influenced in the formation of one of his fables by the prophet Isaiah.
